The End of the month is always the busiest time for moving companies. Most leases are signed around the last days of the month so it creates a bottleneck for moving. If you are one of these people planing on moving during these days, it is smart to start getting your search for a mover going early in the month you want to move in. The best practice is to shop around during the first week of the month, moving companies will offer better deals for these busy days as they, like the airlines, would like to get as many jobs on the board as early as possible. When the last days of the month will start getting filled up, the deals will get less and less attractive as the demand overcomes the supply.
If you are able to move earlier in the month you may be able to squeeze your preferred moving company and get a better deal.
One common mistake is to think that the later you book your move, the better deal you'll find, but as you may see by now, it is just not true.
Some moving companies will overbook the last few days of the month and than drop the less attractive jobs, so be ware of attractive deals you get from movers you don't know much about.
Generally it is important to know who you're dealing with when you book your moving company. Ask friends, family and colleagues for past experiences, check online resources, check the Better Business Bureau. Do not go for the cheapest one you find as it is usually ends up being the most expensive one with hidden charges, theft or just plain lack of experience that translates to major damages to your belongings.
Don't get forget it is your private belongings you have on the line here, it might be worth a few hundred dollars more to have a safe and quite move. Good luck.

Introduction
I wanted to introduce myself. My name is Nimrod Sheinberg and I am a VP Sales in Oz moving and Storage in NYC. We are a NY based Moving company. We provide Local, Interstate, Residential and commercial moving services.
Of course I am somewhat biased but i will try to be objective in my writings. please feel free to tell me what you think.
As an executive in a moving company I deal with many customers and prospective customers on a daily basis. It is a daunting task to increase or even maintain the level of sales during this economic downturn, or may I say this economic slide.
we are trying to do our best to provide customers with the best service possible while competing with rouge and dishonest moving companies who take advantage of customers. Price is an issue people are considering much more today than they did during the last few years. While we are providing customers with honest true estimates for their moves, it is very difficult to compete with low-ballers who promise the world to customers but clearly do not deliver. I am sure that our honesty, while it hurts us today, will help us in the future.
One thing I am proud of is that we are helping our employees in this tough time and keep all aboard. I believe we will emerge stronger when this will all be over.

Moving in tough economic times
As Economic times get tougher and tougher these days, we at Oz Moving, see a shift in people’s interests when it comes to moving. Price was always a deciding factor, but today, we see a higher percentage of people who are looking to get the best deal and are willing to take higher risks with their life belongings to increase savings.
It’s a tough call. Will you pay more to secure your move with a reputable company, or will you trade this security for savings on moving costs? Just like stock traders we all have to decide today what level of risk we are willing to take. There is no formula or a right and wrong answer. Sometimes you can choose the cheapest ‘big website – small company’ movers and they will be the cheapest and do a great job. But sometimes the total cost of the move will be double than what it should be because of either lack of professionalism (damages) or sheer dishonesty or any combination of both.
As I said, a tough call. But you are not alone. Consult your buddies, only the ones you trust, and make a calculated decision. Be smart and keep informed – don’t let yourself be fooled. Good luck everyone. It’s tough out there.
